This is was my first attempt on targeting to a specific audience on social media. After a quick inspection of my demography, I concluded around 65% of them are female. While this is definetly fine for animal portraits and scenes, it won’t work best for some other studies I did in the past.
All smoothed out femal characters are relatively easy to pull off. I also found great interest in looking at the reference pictures for an extended amount of time. However I have never tried the male face. And that is a shame. First, because it will definetly cater to my main demography. But secondly and more importantly it has artistic value. I get to study a different kind of structure. There are definetly more wrinkles also in younger guys. These are not covered in make-up. All good parts to make for great portrait with some visual character.

This is the first portrait in a while, where I have been working straight from color. That is in contrast to the previous face studies, where I first established the values and later went over it in color. Hopefully this is a good start to finally getting more comfortable in picking up color from reference! In this piece however, some intuitive color choices were on point pretty much, while others were very far off. But let’s see the whole and final piece.
